Montblanc Writers Edition Carlo Collodi 3-Piece Set (FP/BP/MP)

Italian Carlo Collodi was the author of the enduring children’s novel “The Adventures of Pinocchio”. First appearing in 1881 as a serial in “Giornale dei bambini” (“Children’s Magazine”), the wayward marionette’s story was later published as a book in 1883. Far from the sanitized 1940s Disney interpretation, it was a cautionary tale that blatantly showed the consequences of bad behavior, ending in the untimely demise of Pinocchio. It was only through the urging of fans, and later on, Collodi’s publishers, that Pinocchio got a second chance and became a real boy.

Albeit as dark as many fairy tales originally were, the story became a classic and was translated into many languages and adapted across several media. In honor of Carlo Collodi’s contribution to literature, Montblanc released the Writers Edition Carlo Collodi set, which includes a fountain pen, a ballpoint pen, and a mechanical pencil, which takes inspiration from his famous story. The dark brown precious resin barrel represents the wood from which Pinocchio was made. The gold-plated cap features intricate engravings of scenes from the story, complemented by a clip shaped like Pinocchio’s famous nose. The striped cone represents the screws that hold the marionette up.

The fountain pen is finished with an 18-karat gold nib designed with an image of Talking Cricket.
