Victor Hugo wrote about social justice and redemption, creating classics such as Les Misérables and The Hunchback of Notre-Dame and single-handedly redefining French literature and fueling the 19th-century Romantic movement.
In honor of his accomplishments, Montblanc released the Writers Edition Victor Hugo fountain pen, with a design heavily influenced by the Gothic architecture of Notre Dame de Paris. The cap shape is reminiscent of the famous cathedral’s Rosace, and the unique clip recreates the bell. Jean Valjean’s face peeks through one of the clip’s “windows” if one looks closely. When capped, this piston-filling pen represents the pillar where Quasimodo was chained. The body is made of Montblanc’s precious resin.
