Montblanc Muses Marilyn Monroe Rollerball

Born Norma Jeane Mortenson, Marilyn Monroe was more than just the face of the 1940s. She subverted the “dumb blonde” stereotype and became a successful actress, critically acclaimed for her comedic timing in humorous films and depth in serious performances. She also broke free of restrictive studio contracts (a feat in her era) and built her own production company, paving the way for women in the entertainment industry to gain more independence in managing their careers. 

Marilyn was a huge advocate for her fellow artists. She used her influence to help singer Ella Fitzgerald book a gig at the historic nightclub Mocambo by promising to sit front and center at every performance and giving her the boost she needed to perform in larger venues. 

While her story ended in tragedy, Marilyn Monroe remains a symbol of both strength and fragility.
