The master behind the popular work “The Kiss”, Vienna Secession painter Gustav Klimt was known for his imaginative, dream-like paintings and sketches that often portray the female form. His unique and memorable style is a blend of Byzantine-inspired mosaics and Art Nouveau, giving dimension to his human subjects while maintaining interestingly stylized but flat surroundings. He is famously known for using gold leaf, giving his work gorgeous luminosity.

Montblanc honors him and his timeless works with the Masters of Art Homage to Gustav Klimt Limited Edition 888 fountain pen. Inspired by the Beethoven Frieze that he created for the 14th exhibition of the Association of Visual Artists Vienna Secession in 1902, it highlights the rebelliousness of the Vienna Secession art movement that Klimt co-founded. A blend of yellow gold and platinum, it features symbols of the artist's life, including lyre strings from the  Beethoven Frieze, the facade of the Secession building, and the swirls seen in many of his works. The barrel end features a green malachite cabochon, a symbol of renewal and a color used in many of his paintings. The nib is adorned with patterns that echo his style.
