The Montblanc Heritage 1912, released in 2013 is one of those pens that successfully merges form and function. Coming from the Heritage collection that revives past designs, the Heritage 1912 is inspired by the Simplo pen that started it all for the brand, complete with a retractable nib and a screw-on cap. Unlike its hard-rubber, eye-dropper predecessor, however, the modern take is made from resin and sports a piston-filler mechanism.
The dual-purpose piston knob extends and retracts the nib. One the nib is out, a gentle tug on the knob engages the filling mechanism. Pushing it back in disengages it. This pen also has safeguards to help you avoid capping it with the nib out. It doesn’t post, but it offers just the right heft for a smooth writing experience, especially with its 14-karat, rhodium-plated nib. Design-wise, it looks clean and capable, highlighted only by an embossed snowcap logo coated in mother of pearl on the finial—a different take on the usual branding.
We have for sale a brand-new Montblanc Heritage 1912 with an F nib. It comes complete with its box, papers, and other inclusions.
Length capped: 12.1 cm.
Length with nib extended: 12.6 cm.
