Montblanc Great Characters Muhammad Ali LE 1942

Known as “The Greatest”, Muhammad Ali was more than a champion heavyweight boxer. He was a philanthropist and an activist, a popular trash talker and a spoken word performer. Out of his 61 fights in his career, he only lost 5. One of his most famous fights, “Thrilla in Manila”, happened in Araneta Coliseum in 1975, where he decisively beat former champion Joe Frazier III in their third and final professional match. He also famously refused to be drafted into the military to be assigned to Vietnam, saying that the war was unethical and against his religion. Even after he retired from boxing, he continued being a champion for civil rights.

In honor of The Greatest, Montblanc released the Great Characters Muhammad Ali Limited Edition 1942. Inspired by the robe he wore during his legendary 1947 fight with George Foreman in Zaire, the white cap features a distinct linear pattern in black on one side and a butterfly on the other, reminiscent of his famous quote, “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.” The clip is shaped like Ali’s championship belt, with its gold logo and green strap. The impressive gold-plated body is designed to look like it's wrapped with boxing tape. The cone has three stripes to symbolize a boxing ring, and includes details of his Zaire “Rumble in the Jungle” victory, as well as his 1974 “Thrilla in Manila” win. The pen comes with an 18-karat gold ring engraved with a boxing glove.
