1967 was the breakout year of Jimi Hendrix and his band, the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Their album “Are You Experienced ranked second only to The Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band”, which they later covered. Impressed by this,  Paul McCartney himself recommended the Experience to perform at the Monterey Pop Festival, which became their US debut. Jimi became an icon and an innovator of rock music, dazzling audiences with various blues-inspired techniques that became the foundation of modern-day funk.

Immortalizing this special year, “1967” was engraved on the platinum-coated barrel ring inspired by guitar cords of the 2022 Montblanc Great Characters Jimi Hendrix Special Edition fountain pen. The pen’s white cap features the pattern of Jimi’s guitar strap, while the clip is reminiscent of a guitar’s whammy bar.
