For classical musicians, Leonard Bernstein was a gifted pianist and a revered conductor who held the baton before the esteemed New York Philharmonic. He led many historical performances, one of which was Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D Minor in 1989, in celebration of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
