Burgundy (or “Bordeaux”) has slowly become a beloved color in Montblanc pens. The name of this deep, red shade originated in England in the 1800s, inspired by the famous, imported red wines from France’s Burgundy region. The popularity of the color trickled into Montblanc’s design: many 14x pens carried it until sometime in the late 2000s when the colorway was discontinued due to slow inventory movement. With how supply and demand work, however, the shortage made what’s available much coveted, and the demand for older pens produced in burgundy resin rose.
The good news is that burgundy for the 149 was recently rereleased. We have for sale a brand-new Montblanc 149 Burgundy complete with its box, papers, and other inclusions.
