The Platinum Izuma Galaxy Raden is one of the sparkliest pens we’ve offered in a while. An untrained eye would probably think that it features nothing but lacquered glitter, but in reality, what beautifully reflects light are thousands of mother-of-pearl (raden) fragments placed by hand. The pen has a base of ebonite and has gone through six months of urushi layering, drying, and polishing in order to achieve the illusion of depth—as if one is staring at a clear night sky.
